Suzanne and Tony, your hosts will help you to enjoy this tranquil and unspoilt region of France. Situated in the beautiful Orne Department (Officially recognized as having the best air quality in Europe). We are only two hours from Paris by train and less than two hours from the lower Channel Ports, such as Caen, Cherbourg, Le Havre and St Malo. Mantilly has a bakery, hairdresser, café and a small grocery store. .
La Loge is a peaceful, quiet retreat that has been recently renovated and is set in the heart of rural Normandy surrounded by open countryside and a host of ancient villages. Calvados is produced locally and Mantilly is called the “Pear Capital” of Normandy, famous for cider and poire. Camembert and Brie are among the cheeses produced from milk supplied by the local dairy farms.
Transport
If you are not inclined to drive yourself in France, your hosts will be very happy to collect you from a seaport or railway station and organize accompanied tours in this area at a reasonable cost. If you are just after a couple of days rest and relaxation on an exhaustive European excursion you may wish to borrow the bicycles and pedal the quiet lanes..
